I'm a program and operations generalist. Most recently I was Program Director at the Future of Life Institute (2020–2025), where I ran the Future of Life Award end to end for five cycles. Each cycle began with candidate research and expert interviews and ended with a case to the board. The 2024 cycle honored the people who laid the foundations of computer ethics and AI safety. I also handled operations work at the institute, including vendor selection, venues, offices, documentation and staff retreats.

Before that the settings were different. At Harvard Kennedy School (2020–2021) I owned the development of the learner engagement system behind the Public Leadership Credential, including a Salesforce knowledge library that cut support requests by 30 percent. At Archibus (2007–2015) I managed a channel of fifteen software resellers. Several of those resellers retained my consultancy, Momenta Solutions, after I left. In each of these jobs I was the person who turned an organization's priorities into a plan other people could work from, and then kept it running.

I have taught at the Harvard Division of Continuing Education since 2006 and still do. I lead sections in history courses, including nuclear deterrence, and guide graduate students through their own research projects. Most of my feedback goes to research design, because that is where students most often go wrong.

I write analytical essays on AI governance and related questions, collected under Writing.

I hold a Master of Liberal Arts in Government from the Harvard University Extension School and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Geneva College. In 2026 I completed BlueDot Impact's AGI Strategy course.
